Baxter Mill Archive – Throwback Thursday: 1960
Although this vintage design is labeled 1960, our archivist believes it was designed in the late 1950s and ultimately produced in 1960. This is because the pattern has traditional features that were popular during the late 50s such as dots, a clean cut and conservative design. Whereas in the 1960s, fabrics had psychedelic influences and shape manipulation.
This cotton fabric was most likely used to make simple day dresses as dots were a popular motif for dresses in the 1950s. Today, we see this trend of circular motifs becoming more popular in fashion, as well.
